Notes
| Note |
Emma J. Pease added as 1st wife of Worthy L. Fenton per e-mail from Colin Adams dated 01/19/2016 (shown below): My Fenton line for Worthy Luzerne Fenton shows that he was married three times. 1) Married 13 Dec 1875 to Emma J. Pease b. 03 Nov 1856 McHenry County, Illinois to d. 09 Nov 1917 Garden Pairie, Boone County, Illinois They had one child (My paternal Grandmother) Cora Fenton 02 b. Feb 1877 Marengo, McHenry County, Illinois to d. 26 Aug 1927 Shaw, Lincoln County, Colorado 2) Married Nov 1893 to Laura May Polhemus b. 06 Jul 1867 Gelmond, Wright County, Iowa. date & location of death is unknown They had two children: Plamer Fenton 1893 - 1900 & Henry Sherman Fenton b. 1893-1900 d. 1893-1900 (I suspect that Plamer was born AFTER Henry) Nellie was the EX-wife of Worthy's brother Norris Clinton Fenton. Norris had also been married to Eva Elizabeth Pease the sister of Worthy's first wife Emma J. Pease 3) Married 1908 to Nellie G. Gilson b. 18 Apr 1866 Boone County, Illinois to d. 21 Aug 1943 Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania With regard to Cora Fenton; Her Death Certificate states that she died on 26 Aug 1927 in Shaw, Lincoln County, Colorado She is buried in the Arriba Cemetery, Arriba, Lincoln County, Colorado. Cora's Find A Grave record also lists a Elria E. Adams buried on the same date and in the same plot. This tends to substantiates a long held family belief that Cora died in child birth and the child's name was Elria. Cora was 50 years old when she died, which would be unusual for a woman of that age to be giving birth but it DOES HAPPEN. Child birth for a woman of that age and at that time in our history and living in a rural community would have been very difficult and most likely not attended by a physician. I have not yet obtained a Death Certificate for Elria.
